What was it like a long time ago a hunting residence building? You can see it at the court of Sala Baganza lying on the first hills of the Apennine, near the Baganza stream.
It played a major role in the defensive system of the Parmese castles: here lived accounts and dukes for centuries, the Sanvitale, the Farnese, the Bourbons.The Sanvitale Rock of Sala Baganza, in the province of Parma, is enriched by a large 18th-century garden surrounded by walls of the time. It preserves precious frescoes and stucco, sets where women of hearts, culture and conjuncation spun destinies and plots.
From the heroine Donatella Rossi to the beautiful Barbara Sanseverino and stepdaughter Eleonora, sung by Torquato Tasso, and then the discussed Maria Amalia of Habsburg Lorraine and finally the Duchess of Parma Maria Luigia, guest in the abode for a long time. Reopened to the public in 2003 it hosts cultural initiatives and concerts organized within the evocative 18th-century Oratory of the Assumption.
The frescoes of Orazio Sammachini, Hercules Procaccini, Cesare Baglione are worth a visit.

The Hall of the Apotheosis, mentioned in ancient documents as the Hall of The Audience, has been frescoed by the internationally renowned painter Sebastiano Galeotti: the pictorial cycle, with a profane subject, constitutes one of the largest and most important enterprises realized by the artist.
